ABOUT

I'm a senior at the LA Recording School working towards my B.S. in Audio Production. I initially began studying for a physics degree at Cal Poly SLO hoping to work on making telescopes. However, I started in 2020 in the peak of the pandemic and decided to take a break amidst the chaos of universities trying to adapt to the online-only format. During my time off, I decided I would be happier pursuing a career in the gaming industry, and I began studying audio production in November of 2021.

Since the start of my enrollment, I’ve both studied and worked in multiple fields of audio, including live sound, post-production, studio recording, and music mixing. I had the goal of making sounds for games in mind from the start, but I enjoy learning and dipping my toes into new areas any chance I can get. I’ve been able to work on some neat stuff, including audio setup for the Apex Legends Global Series and being a spotlight operator for Nicki Minaj. Now I’m in the process of relocating back to San Diego while working my new job at AdHoc Studio as a sound and dialogue designer. I am also the principal sound designer for the indie game V.A. Proxy, which I work on with my friend Khayyam and the solo developer, PyroLith.

As a sound designer, I would describe myself as extremely detail-oriented. While I do enjoy creating and implementing audio systems, I believe my best work is with creating the assets themselves. I enjoy recording my own source material to use as often as I can; if I can’t find it in my library, or if I just want to have fun, I’ll try to record or synthesize the sound myself.

I was asked once how I stay motivated to do my work; I wish I had some trick, honestly, but in reality, I just love what I do! There are always new things to learn in the realm of sound design, and that alone is enough to keep me going. I may be about to graduate, but I don’t plan on ending my sound education any time soon. Sound design is important work, but at its core it’s fun, and that’s what I love the most about it.

Outside of my work with audio, I like to be active in live-streaming spaces and enjoy delving into the mines of Hoxxes with my friends on Deep Rock Galactic. I also like baking and collecting records! At the moment, my favorite record in my collection is my 1982 copy of ANRI’s Heaven Beach album.
