ABOUT
I'm a recent graduate of the LA Recording School's audio production program. I initially began studying for a physics degree at Cal Poly SLO hoping to work on designing telescopes. However, I started in 2020 at the peak of the pandemic and that sucked, so I decided to take a break. During my time off, I decided I would be happier pursuing a career in the games industry, and I began studying audio production in November of 2021.
During my enrollment, I studied and worked in multiple fields of audio, including live sound, post-production, studio recording, and music mixing & mastering. I always had the goal of a career in games in mind, but I enjoyed learning and dipping my toes into new areas any chance I got. I’ve been able to work on some neat stuff, including audio setup for the Apex Legends Global Series and being a spotlight operator for a Nicki Minaj rehearsal. In April of 2024, I was hired part-time as a sound designer for AdHoc Studio. After graduation, I relocated back to San Diego and now continue my work at AdHoc full-time designing sounds, voiceovers, and implementing audio. I am also a sound designer for the indie game V.A. Proxy, which I work on with my friend Khayyam and the solo developer, PyroLith.
As a sound designer, I would describe myself as extremely detail-oriented. While I like the challenge creating and implementing audio systems, what I enjoy the most is creating the assets themselves (though inevitably creating & implementing end up going hand in hand). I enjoy recording my own source material to use as often as I can; if I can’t find it in my libraries, or if I just want to have fun, I’ll try to record or synthesize the sound myself.
I was asked once how I stay motivated to do my work; I wish I had some trick, honestly, but in reality, I just love what I do! There are always new things to learn in the realm of sound design, and that alone is enough to keep me going. I finished my degree, but my audio education isn’t coming to an end any time soon. Sound design is important work, but at its core it’s fun, and that’s what I love the most about it.
Outside of my work with audio, I like to be active in live-streaming spaces and enjoy delving into the mines of Hoxxes with my friends on Deep Rock Galactic. I also like baking pies and collecting records! At the moment, my favorite record in my collection is my 1982 copy of ANRI’s Heaven Beach album.
